Summary / Purpose
This article explains how to configure SMS in TransVirtual’s
Export Rules and highlights the importance of checking your SMS credit balance
before use. It is intended for users who want to send status updates (e.g.,
delivery notifications) via SMS.
Prerequisites
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Check Your SMS
Balance First
Before setting up any SMS export rule, make sure your
account has sufficient SMS credits.
Navigate
to Settings > TransVirtual Account > Rates & Modules
Scroll
to the SMS Balance section
Click
Add
Funds if your balance is low or zero

Note: If your SMS credit is empty, no SMS messages
will be sent, even if the rule is correctly set up.
2. Set Up an SMS
Export Rule
Go to Import/Export
> Data Export > Status Updates
Click Create
Rule or edit an existing one
Set
the Export Framework to SMS
Click
the Settings button to configure the message content and recipient
Use
dynamic fields (e.g., @Model.ConsignmentNumber) to personalize the message
Click Validate
to preview your message and see how many SMS segments it will use
💡 Tip: Keep messages
concise to avoid extra charges. One SMS = 160 characters. Longer messages will
be split and billed as multiple messages.
Troubleshooting Tips
No
SMS sent?
→ Check your SMS credit balance. Rules won’t run if balance is
zero.
Message
looks correct but no delivery?
→ Re-validate the message to ensure formatting is correct.
Unexpected
credit usage?
→ Use the Validate button to estimate cost per message before
enabling the rule.
FAQs
Q: Can I send SMS to multiple recipients?
A: Yes, you can specify recipient fields dynamically in the export rule
settings.
Q: How can I avoid running out of credits?
A: Transvirtual does not have a built‑in reminder or email alert for low SMS credits. We recommend setting an external reminder (e.g., calendar notification or task list) to check your SMS balance regularly, or topping up after sending bulk notifications.
Q: Can I customize the sender name?
A: No, SMS messages will appear as sent by TransVirtual if no custom gateway is
configured.
