Linehaul Routes
Overview
Transvirtual lets you set up Linehaul Routes, which are a set of pre-defined routes that linehaul freight may take.
The default option is that Transvirtual uses your headports for your transit times. If this is the case, a single page displays both your linehaul routes and transit times. If you have different zones assigned to your headport and transit times, these pages split into distinct pages configured separately, giving you greater control.
Your linehaul routes should always reference your headport zone list.
Important: Linehaul Routes are typically depot-to-depot runs and are based on your headport zone lists. The zone list being used can be found and changed under Configuration > General > Global Setup, on the General tab, in the Zone Directory Mapping section.
Navigate to Configuration > General > Linehaul Routes to see the Linehaul Routes page.
Add a Route
- Go to the Linehaul Routes page, as shown below.

- Click Add Route. A pop-up to create a new route displays.

- Select a Zone From and Zone To, then click Save to create the route.
- The route appears in the route table list, as shown below.

Note: you can import a linehaul route list using the Import Route Table List option available when creating a new route. If importing a list, your CSV file needs the required columns. The zones specified in the file should match those listed in your Route/Scan/Agent Zone List.
- Once you have created a linehaul route, click it and its settings appear on the right side of the page, as shown below.

Route Detail
This section is used to configure the route.

- Route Name: the name applied to the route. The name should be reflective of the from and to zones for this route.
- Zone From and Zone To: these shouldn't need to be changed, as they are populated when you create the route. If required, you can change the values in these fields to be the from and to zones for the route.
- Valid Headport Scan Locations: used to apply a series of headport scan locations that are valid for this route.
Example: freight going from Brisbane to Melbourne may stop at Sydney and get scanned and processed there before heading to Melbourne. Adding Sydney as a valid headport scan means that when linehaul freight travelling from Brisbane to Melbourne gets scanned at Sydney, the user scanning at Sydney does not get an error about possible misdirected freight.
This concept only works if the relevant setting is enabled on the Global Setup page, as shown below.

Note: to go to the Global Setup page, click Configuration > General > Global Setup and refer to the scanning section.
Once you enable this setting, any mobile users scanning freight at a location other than those listed as valid headport scan locations receive a message on their device saying the freight may be misdirected. This is handy to ensure freight does not accidentally travel in the wrong direction. The headport locations that display for this field are derived from the Zone Directory Mapping section on the Global Setup page.

- Valid Agent Scan Locations: used to specify what agent scan locations are valid for this route. Typically, an agent will only operate out of one depot or headport.

Example: in the screenshot above, Matt Agent Services operates out of Singleton and NSW. Setting Matt Agent Carrier as a valid agent scan location means that when a user for this agent scans linehaul freight travelling from Brisbane to Sydney, they do not receive a misdirect message on their device. If another agent user from a different location scans this linehaul freight, they receive a misdirect error message. This field works similarly to Valid Headport Scan Locations, in that it lets you specify allowable scan locations for this linehaul route; anything scanned outside the valid scan locations triggers an error message. The values that appear in this field are the agent names in your account.
Set Up a Linked Linehaul Route
In addition to creating a standard linehaul route, you can also create a Linked Linehaul Route, which is an overarching linehaul leg containing smaller linehaul legs.
Example: you may have a linehaul leg of Brisbane to Perth. For this leg, the actual journey taken may be Brisbane to Sydney, then Sydney to Melbourne, then Melbourne to Adelaide, then Adelaide to Perth. Creating a Linked Linehaul Route lets you create one overall leg that encompasses smaller legs within it; doing so means any included legs are valid scan locations, which ensures freight is travelling in the right direction. The setup is much the same as the method described above.
- Click Add Route. A pop-up to create a new route displays.

- Select the Zone From and Zone To using the drop-down button.
- Set the toggle to Yes to link the linehaul route, as shown above, then click Save to save the changes.
- Once complete, the route is created and appears in the list with a Y in the Link column, as shown below.

- Click the newly added route. Its details display on the right side of the screen, as shown below.

- At the bottom of the page, click Add Route Link, as shown below.

- A pop-up to create a new route link displays.

- Use the drop-down to select any existing linehaul routes that form a leg of this linked linehaul route, then click Save to create and add it.
- Once complete, the added leg appears in the Route Links grid, as shown below.

Example: in the screenshot above, Brisbane to Sydney is now a leg of Sydney to Perth. You could then add the other legs that form part of the Sydney to Perth journey.
