Linehaul Controller

Linehaul Controller

Summary / Purpose

Use this article to create, monitor, and manage daily linehaul routes in the Linehaul Controller.

Overview

The Linehaul Controller lets you manage freight movement between locations. Use it to:

  • Create and monitor linehaul routes
  • Assign consignments to routes
  • Track expected freight volumes
  • Close and depart routes

Navigate to Transport → Operational Tasks → Linehaul Controller

The page contains four tabs: Linehaul Routes, Manual Assignment, Expected Freight, and Linehaul Departed.

Linehaul Routes Tab

Use this tab to create, edit, delete, and close linehaul routes.

Create a route

  1. Click Create Route
  2. Select:
    • From zone
    • To zone
    • Primary Vehicle
    • Additional Trailers (optional)
  3. Select an Agent
  4. Click Create

The route appears in the Linehaul Routes list.

Add consignments to a route

  1. Enter the consignment number in the field
  2. Click Add

Important: Linehaul scans only match to a route if the From/To zones and Primary Vehicle details match exactly. Scanned consignments will not appear if there is no match.

Note: The Color Legend at the bottom-left of the Linehaul Controller page identifies what each color and flashing indicator means.

Edit a route

  1. Select the route from the list
  2. Route and vehicle details appear on the right
  3. Click Edit
  4. Update the required fields
  5. Click Save

Close/depart a linehaul route

  1. In Route Details, click Close/Depart
  2. Click Yes to confirm

Important: Ensure all relevant consignments are added before closing the route.

Note: Closing a route for an agent/vehicle combination automatically closes all other open routes using the same combination.

Delete a route

  1. In the route list, click the delete icon
  2. The route is deleted

Important: You cannot delete a route that contains scan data. Delete all scanned consignments first, then delete the route.

Manual Assignment Tab

Use this tab to manually assign consignments to a linehaul route.

  1. Click the Manual Assignment tab
  2. Consignments display on the left; linehaul routes display on the right
  3. Select the consignment checkbox
  4. Double-click the target linehaul route
  5. Click Yes to confirm

Expected Freight Tab

Use this tab to view expected freight volumes for all routes.

  1. Click the Expected Freight tab
  2. All routes and expected volumes display
  3. Select a route to view freight details on the right
  4. Double-click a consignment to edit its details (opens in a new tab)

Note: For more on updating consignment details, see Consignment Details.

Linehaul Scans and the Linehaul Controller

When using linehaul scans with the Linehaul Controller:

  • Scanned quantities appear in the matching route
  • Locations and vehicle assignments must match between the mobile app and web portal
  • Scanned quantity reflects within the route, but item-level removal is not supported

Example: A consignment has 2 items. Only 1 is scanned using the mobile app. The Scanned Qty column shows 1, but individual items cannot be removed from the route.
