Service Levels

Overview

Service levels are optional in some scenarios, but where they are used they play a key role in operations and pricing. Common service levels include General, Express, Urgent, and Hotshot. This article outlines how to create new service levels and modify existing ones.

Page URL

Navigate to Configuration > Lists and Zones > Service Levels.

  • Service levels can also be set up via Finance > Configuration and Setup > Transport Service Levels.

Add a service level

  1. On the service level page, click New Service Level. The create new consignment service level pop-up displays.
  1. Enter the Service Name, then click Create. The service appears in the service list.
  1. Click the newly added service. Its details display on the right of the screen.
  1. Update the required details (see Field Descriptions below), then click Update to save the changes.

Field Descriptions

Description
Service Name
The name of the service level. Make it reflective of the freight classification, for example an express consignment that must arrive fast, or a general consignment that follows standard delivery ETAs.
Service Short Name
A short name for the service level.
Service Name (AKA)
Other names this service level is known as in third-party systems.
Max Consignment Quantity
Applies to manually created consignments (those created via the web portal). Sets the maximum quantity a consignment can have under this service level. For example, Air Freight may limit the number of items on a consignment.
Max Consignment per Item Weight
Applies to manually created consignments. Sets the maximum weight an item can be under this service level, ensuring manually created connotes fall within the allowable range.
Dangerous Goods Excluded
Specifies whether this service level can include dangerous goods. For example, Air Freight does not allow dangerous goods because the air pressure at which planes operate is unsafe for them.
Only Price if Exact Match
If enabled, consignments only price when step 1 of the rate card is marked default, has no service levels assigned, or exactly matches the consignment service level.
Hide from Customer
Hides this service level from the customer on the consignment creation page.
Default Service Level
If enabled, any empty service level during consignment creation defaults to this one. Useful if a customer forgets to select a service level.
Mobile Colour in Preload Page
Sets the colour of consignments with this service level on the mobile app Load page. Useful for making consignments stand out.
Mobile Colour in Delivery Page
Sets the colour of consignments with this service level on the mobile app Delivery page.
Parent Service Level
Links this service level to a parent service level as a sub-service level.
Colour Display in Portal
The chosen colour displays in the relevant field on the consignment search screen, making consignments easier to find.
Additional Price Display Info
Additional service level description shown to users when price checking on consignment creation and through the website widget.
Display Text After Con Creation
Text that displays at the top of the page after a consignment is created with this service level.
Memo
Internal notes relevant to this service level.
Transit Master Zone Override
Sets a zone list against this service level specifically for transit times, overriding the default transit times zone list.

Delete a service level

  1. Click the delete icon. A confirmation dialog displays.
  2. Click Yes. The service level is deleted from the database.
