Google Authentication - 2 Factor Login

Google Authentication - 2 Factor Login

If required, Transvirtual can allow the setup of 2-factor authentication on logins, providing an extra level of security to your user logins. This feature is particularly useful when a user's login could become compromised.
A user login may be compromised if their username and password are acquired, but with 2-factor login setup, no one can login without having the user's phone to authenticate and verify.

How to Setup

1. Staff users of your Transvirtual account will need to download either the iOS or Android Google Authentication app depending on the type of phone they have:
iOS: http://buff.ly/2sr1xpH
Android: http://buff.ly/2srcszB
You can also search the Google Authentication app from the App/Play stores.

2. Once you have downloaded the google authenticator, go to Transport > Configuration and Setup > Card Files, then click on the Staff (Users) tab. A list of staff will appear, now double-click on the applicable staff for whom you are trying to setup the authentication to open their staff card (this action is performed from within Transvirtual) and the details of the selected staff member will display.
3. On staff detail page, navigate to the General Information section. Here you can see the Google Authenticator settings, as shown below.

4. Enable the Google Authenticator by clicking on the toggle button in Yes position as shown above. Now, you will see a QR code as shown below.

5. Now, from within the Google Authentication app, the user should follow the prompts and tap on the Scan a QR code as shown below.

6. The user should then scan the QR code that has appeared from within Transvirtual (against their staff card). Once done, a code will appear. Enter this code into the Test Code section as per below:

7. Tap on the Test Code button to setup the link.

Provided this Test Code is the same as what the user has on their device, the link will now be setup and 2-factor enabled.
8. Now, when the user logs into the Transvirtual website they will see the below screen:

9. As the 2-factor link has been setup, the Google Authentication app will provide a unique code and this code will refresh every 30 seconds - further increasing the security of this user's login.

Ensure that this process is repeated for all staff users required.
It is also advisable that this setup be paired with Security Settings setup for all users in your account - click here for help with this.
