Freight Items

Overview

Use this article to create, manage, and configure Freight Items in Transvirtual. This guide explains what Freight Items are, when to configure them, and how they affect consignment rating, pricing, and label printing.
Freight Items are used for advanced pricing and consignment description management.
What they do:
  • Allow simplified rate cards to service multiple consignment descriptions (for example, a "pallet" freight item can price pallets, skids, half pallets, or oversized pallets)
  • Ensure correct pricing is applied regardless of consignment description variations
  • Support alternate names (AKAs) to handle description inconsistencies (for example, "pallet" can match plt, plts, pal, oversized pallets)
When to use:
  • You need flexible pricing across different consignment descriptions
  • You have customers using inconsistent terminology for the same freight type
  • You want to control label printing quantities by freight type
