We're sometimes asked the question
Why do you charge for the same consignment note when it exists in multiple TransVirtual accounts? Isn't that double dipping?
The very short answer is no its not double dipping, we do this to maintain data security between accounts. The slightly longer answer is each account holds independent consignment data which duplicates our storage and processing overheads so we need to charge for this to cover costs.
With a traditional paper connote, you only have access to
the data contained on the connote whilst it’s in your possession. You can’t
write internal notes on it, record subcontractor rates and payments, or review
the POD later, unless you create and store your own copy of the paper connote or the information it contains.
When two connected companies use TransVirtual, we work the same
way. A copy of the connote is created and stored independently in each TransVirtual account. This maintains robust security but it also brings
other benefits such as advanced shipping notice (ASN), ability to generate and assign
prices both to your customer and agents/subcontractors and run reports, even before the
physical freight ever arrives. Then, long after its been delivered and the electronic POD
has been returned, you can check GPS and POD data, add additional services and
edit pricing, generate reports and KPI’s and review its progress through your
network.
