Charging the same consignment in multiple accounts
Charging the same consignment in multiple accounts
Overview
A common question: why is the same consignment note charged in multiple TransVirtual accounts, and is that double dipping? It is not. Each account holds an independent copy of the consignment data. This maintains data security between accounts and covers the storage and processing overhead of duplicating that data.
Why each account holds its own copy
With a traditional paper connote, you only have access to the data on the connote while it is in your possession. You cannot add internal notes, record subcontractor rates, or review the POD later unless you create and store your own copy.
When two connected companies use TransVirtual, the same principle applies. A copy of the consignment is created and stored independently in each account. This maintains security and enables advanced shipping notices (ASN), price assignment to customers and agents, reporting, and GPS and POD data access. All of this is available from the moment the consignment is created, and long after delivery.
