Advanced settings: Rate card
These advance settings provide an enhanced configuration options that allows for greater flexibility and precision in pricing strategies within Tv. These settings are designed to support complex rate structures, allowing users to tailor pricing logic to meet specific operational needs. While most of these options are disabled by default, enabling them can significantly impact how rates are calculated and applied to consignments.
How to navigate:
Finance > Configuration and Setup > Rate cards
Customer Transport rates or Supplier Transport rate > Rate card info > Advanced Settings
1. Disable Reciprocal Route
Default status: Disabled - it allows Tv to swap the sender/receiver zones to try and find a price match. This is useful when the rate card only contains directional pricing (e.g., Zone A to Zone B), but the consignment is going in the opposite direction.
Example:
- assume that the rate card has prices from Zone A to Zone B
- Connote is from Zone B to Zone A
If reciprocal is disabled, Tv will use the same price for B > A as if it was A > B.
If reciprocal is enabled, the rate card will be directional so B > A will fail as we can’t use A > B. 
- Default Sender – option in step 3 on rate cards
When enabled, it allows Tv to ignore the sender location, use the default sending location and find a receiver match. Useful for agents doing final mile only. Effectively ignores the sender location and prices everything from the ‘depot’ location/single zone
Example:
- Connote is from an unknown zone to Zone B.
Tv will price it from the default sender zone to Zone B e.g. Zone A to Zone B, assuming Zone A is the default sending zone
Note: to ensure proper functionality, the suburb and postcode must be included in the corresponding zone listing.
Both settings are enabled: Disabled Reciprocal Route and Default Sender (cross checking)
If both settings are enabled, you can get a scenario where you will be able to price everywhere to everywhere.
Example:
- Connote is going from Zone A (a known location in your zone list) to an unknown or non-serviced location.
Tv can’t find a price from Zone A to unknown, so it tries the reciprocal and finds a default sender (unknown) to Zone A rate so prices it accordingly.
2. Use Highest Price in Weight Breaks
Default status: Disabled - primarily used for weight-related rates to determine between quoting. This feature is not commonly used
3. Unique Cubic per Line
Default status: Enabled
4. Price Each Line Independent
Default status: Disabled
If enabled, it allows Tv to isolate each line item as a separate entity to which the rates should be applied.
Example Scenario:
- Disabled: a consignment below has 4-line items, Tv will account this consignment as 4 orders joined together; hence it will apply the rate based on the total consignment, which is 4 items with a total of 40kg
- Enabled: Tv will allocate pricing to each line, consecutively allocating rates for each item at 10kg each
Note: this option is used commonly for flexibility on Quantity rates and Weight rates, specifically for the "progressive rate" option
5. Fall
back rate
Default status: Disabled
When enabled: it allows the rate card to act as a shadow rate, meaning it will only apply if no matching rate is found in the primary or detailed rate card. This is particularly useful in fallback pricing scenarios, where you want to ensure that a consignment can still be priced even if it doesn’t meet the criteria of the main rate card. The system will first attempt to find a rate in the detailed rate card. If no match is found, it will then check the shadow rate card and apply the relevant rate from there.
6. Weight
Always Round Up
Default status: Disabled
When enabled, this feature informs the system to allocate either the Dead
weight or the Cubic weight to the next whole number in the rate calculation. This would start
once a number exceeds a decimal.
Example:
361 = 361
361.01 =
362
361.4 = 362
Note: this would also be applicable for the cubic weight
7. Default Rate card
Default status: Disabled
When enabled, the selected rate card becomes the default fallback for pricing. If the system is unable to find a matching rate in any of the assigned or detailed rate cards during pricing, it will automatically fall back to this default rate card to attempt pricing.
Note: this setting is useful for ensuring coverage in edge cases or for general pricing when detailed rate cards are incomplete or unavailable.
